Met-L-Flo Additive Manufacturing Enabled Solution
Over-Molding also called two-shot molding, is a versatile process that supports expanded performance for a wide range of applications.
- Electronic Component Encapsulation
- Integrating Additional Features For Performance
- Multiple Materials In One Piece
- Assembly Protection
- Threaded Inserts
Many industries utilize our Over-Molding technology which includes but is not limited to:
Over-Molding is a highly customizable process that looks different for each application. Two Shot molding is the process of adding material on top of a part. This process is used with others such as 3D printing processes, Castings in general, and other processes as well. This allows for the use of multiple materials as well as the addition or changing of top layer features.
While many clients utilize Over-Molding for adding features onto a part or to utilize multiple materials, some clients use Over-Molding to protect primary pieces. This is done by having the primary component produced and then having a secondary material cast over top. The second material acts as a shield to protect the primary component. This is also referred to as encapsulation.
There are so many applications that Over-Molding can be applied to. If you are interested to see how our Over-Molding technology can assist you on your next project give us a call at (630)-409-9860 or email us at email@example.com.
