CNC - Computer Numerical Control

Met-L-Flo Subtractive Machining Services

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) is a subtractive technology. Although not our normal approach, sometimes the perfect solution for a variety of different production problems you might be facing.

For example:

  • Engineering Materials
  • Production Geometries
  • Tight Tolerance requirements

There are many industries we work with that utilize our CNC technology including but not limited to:

  • Aerospace
  • Automotive
  • Appliances
  • Industrial
  • Medical

Computer Numeric Control or CNC is a machining process. Machining processes remove material to reveal parts. When it comes to CNC, the material is milled or removed from a block of material to reveal the parts.  Machining does require the use of tools to remove material so some geometry may require allowances like radii or restrictions like depth considerations.  We focus primarily on 3 and 4-axis machining.

When removing material from a billet, or block of material, it may be necessary to perform multiple passes to get to the desired end shape.  This is often referred to as rough cuts and finish cuts.  While machining may be able to get to very fine finishes, some additional steps may be necessary to get to the final product.

We can help you understand potential considerations and specifics that may impact your geometry when machining.  If you are interested to see how our CNC technology can assist you on your next project give us a call at (630)409-9860 or email us at info@metlflo.com.
